North Devon Choral Society has been making choral music for more than fifty years. We were founded in 1952 by Alcwyn Rogers, since when we have continued to perform a wide range of classical works to a high standard.

Concerts are performed widely in North Devon, including Ilfracombe, Lynton, Braunton, Barnstaple, Torrington, Bideford and South Molton. We aim to use an orchestra at least once a year, and at Torrington Parish Church (St Michael’s) we also have the benefit of their Willis organ dating from 1864. In 2004 we performed for the first time in Barnstaple Pannier Market, staging a memorable performance of the Verdi Requiem together with two choirs from South Devon and a full orchestra.

We have over 120 singers and we are always pleased to welcome new members. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings between 7.30 and 9.30pm at Christ Church, Bear Street, Barnstaple.
