Have you been inspired by choirs on the television, including Chivenor very nearby? Have you discovered an urge to sing as part of a community where you can make some new friends? Then why not come and join us at North Devon Choral Society. We have over 140 singers and we are always pleased to welcome new members. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings between 7.30 and 9.30pm at Christ Church, Bear Street, Barnstaple. Have a look at the searchable list of our previous concerts to see the kind of music we sing.

Concerts are performed widely in North Devon, including Ilfracombe, Lynton, Braunton, Barnstaple, Torrington, Bideford and South Molton. We aim to use an orchestra at least once a year, and at Torrington Parish Church (St Michael and All Angels) we also have the benefit of their excellent Father Willis organ dating from 1864. A joint concert featuring Verdi’s “Requiem” is planned for 2016 involving several choirs, including South Devon Choir, and full orchestra at Torquay Town Hall and Barnstaple Pannier Market, a repeat of the memorable concerts of 2004 and 2010.

In 2012 we celebrated our 60th anniversary with a dinner at the Barnstaple Hotel. Here is a sequence of photographs which were taken during the occasion.

Our next concert will be on 18 July 2015 at 7.30pm in Christ Church, Braunton. The programme will comprise Edward German’s “Merrie England”.
