Have you been inspired by choirs on the television, including Chivenor very nearby? Have you discovered an urge to sing as part of a community where you can make some new friends? Then why not come and join us at North Devon Choral Society. We have over 120 singers and we are always pleased to welcome new members. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings between 7.30 and 9.30pm at Christ Church, Bear Street, Barnstaple. Have a look at the searchable list of our previous concerts to see the kind of music we sing.

Concerts are performed widely in North Devon, including Ilfracombe, Lynton, Braunton, Barnstaple, Torrington, Bideford and South Molton. We aim to use an orchestra at least once a year, and at Torrington Parish Church (St Michael’s) we also have the benefit of their Willis organ dating from 1864. In 2004 we performed for the first time in Barnstaple Pannier Market, staging a memorable performance of the Verdi Requiem together with two choirs from South Devon and a full orchestra; we returned there in June 2010.

Our next concert will be on 7 April 2012 at 7.00pm in Holy Trinity Church, Ilfracombe, when we shall be celebrating the sixtieth anniversary of the North Devon Choral Society. The programme will comprise Bach’s “St Matthew Passion”.
