Have you been inspired by Gareth Malone and “The Choir” on television? Have you discovered an urge to sing as part of a community where you can make some new friends? Then why not come and join us at North Devon Choral Society. We have over 120 singers and we are always pleased to welcome new members. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings between 7.30 and 9.30pm at Christ Church, Bear Street, Barnstaple. Have a look at the searchable list of our previous concerts to see the kind of music we sing. Concerts are performed widely in North Devon, including Ilfracombe, Lynton, Braunton, Barnstaple, Torrington, Bideford and South Molton. We aim to use an orchestra at least once a year, and at Torrington Parish Church (St Michael’s) we also have the benefit of their Willis organ dating from 1864. In 2004 we performed for the first time in Barnstaple Pannier Market, staging a memorable performance of the Verdi Requiem together with two choirs from South Devon and a full orchestra; we shall be returning there in June this year (see below). |

Our next concert will be on 11 December 2010 at 7.30pm in St Michael and All Angels Church, Torrington. The programme will comprise Gounod’s “Messe St. Cecilia” and Saint-Saëns’ “Christmas Oratorio”.
